This is a pic of my garage circa 2012. That's my 1966 Chevrolet Impala parked next to my 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi. I buy a lot of odd stuff because I'm working to complete my 'list.' I'm trying to own a car from each major country, each engine type and each decade. Let me explain.

My 1966 Impala crossed from the list: 1960's, V8, and American. The Swift crossed off DOHC, 5-speed trans. Perhaps my little chart will help explain.

Kinja'd!!!

Boxes filled in with green mark areas I've already covered. It's like my very own car dork scavenger hunt! I realize there are more countries and cylinder counts but these are just the ones that interest me. My next car will probably be from Britain or Italy because I've already done Japanese and American.

What about you? What are cars you 'need' to own? Maybe you've already owned all the ones on my list!

For the record, my cars have been:

1983 Datsun 280ZX
1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula
1989 Suzuki Swift GTi

1966 Chevrolet Impala

1999 Chevrolet Suburban

1969 Chrysler Newport

My next car HAS to be a convertible. In addition to that, I'd like to own something from the 80s, and something with a carburetor. Another thing I'm interested in, although I haven't done the market research since I won't have the proper resources to do something like this for a little while, is owning a reeaaally old car. Like a Model T or something of that vintage. I suppose I'd like to own something with a big old V8 at some point, and an electric car too, although I'm not too worried about that one since I'm sure it will be almost unavoidable at some point in my lifetime.

I would have to say my next vehicle needs to be something useless and not practical at all. I am one year away from being 30 and 6 months away from being married. So I think the most useless car would either be a 2003-04 Cobra Convertible or any year Lotus Elise.

I've had a few of my bucket list cars already:

e30 - always wanted to experience the hype. I got the suspension redone last week finally (it was shot to hell when I bought it,) and its at the shop for an alignment now. So theoretically this week I'll get to live the dream

91 mr2 (sw21) - wanted one growing up, it was a "realistic" sports car at 16 (ended up with an s10 blazer instead...) The car lived for only a few months before it threw a rod so I'll probably buy another one eventually

e39 - a few years ago I bought my e60 when I was deciding between it and a 540iT. I just bought a 540iT and am selling the e60, should have done that in the first place. I am going to be buried in the touring, I love this car

remaining bucket list cars (off the top of my head):

panther - because land yacht

aw11

e60 m5 because v10

928 - one of my buddies calls it the "muscle porsche". I like the idea that it was engineered to replace the 911 and has the motor in the front. I am going to be picky as hell though, either get an early model with the crazy seats or get a late model when it was at its peak

transam ws6 - prices seem to be creeping up already, I think this is going to be collectible as the last firebird. I was thinking about saying C5 vette but I'd rather have one of these

Throw an old Saab 96 with the 3-cyl and you could add two-stroke you your list as well

Mid engined, coupe. Ive got my eyes on a 914 right now, any variant.

The SL600 and Magnum RT have me quite satisfied at the moment, but I would like another tiny car to play with in the future.

I would also like a V10 powered car someday, to complete the trifecta, (V8 and V12 currently). Not sure whether I would want a Viper or R8 for that. I doubt I would ever have a shot at an LFA. What other factory V10 cars are there?

Then a Grand National, for sure.

300SL, gullwing, 1963 model, for fuel injection.

Pagani Zonda, preferrably manual like the LH, but it would be hard to get them to do that.

Koenigsegg CCXR, because they look amazing.

Lastly, Id love to have a Chevy Kodiak, just for teh lulz, and as a hauler. Im not really into trucks, but its something different from the "lifted and chipped dealer lot special."

Swap the decades for Germany and Italy and get a BMW 2002 - fantastic little car.

Hmmm, I'd like to own a car from every decade post-war. So far I've crossed off the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s.

I'd also like to own a car from every major car producing nation. So far I've done Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Russia. I've got the USA, Japan, Sweden, Australia and Korea to do :)

Oh, and I want to own one of every engine configuration. So far I've got I4, I6 and V6...

Well I had two Chevy V8 trucks growing up, a 70' and an 85' stepside. That covers the Mercian 8s. I did have a Blazer V6 in college. Now I have an I5 W123 Merc diesel, an I6 240Z and a 4cyl 94 Accord. My dream is to have a Citroen DS, a 68 or 69, the Merc is as classy and quirky as I can afford. If the Honda ever dies I'm thinking maybe Volvo 240 wagon or maybe a 90's one with the red-ish leather.

done : 4, 6, 8 cylinder and rotary;

American, german, japanese and swedish;

1980's, 1990's, 2000's;

I'd need a V10 and a V12 at least once in my life, because screw efficiency.

I just want my next car to be RWD and maybe have either more than 4 cylinders, or 4 and a turbocharger. AWD would be fun too, but winter is almost over lol.

I've owned exclusively Japanese cars (except a Mazda that doesn't really count) so something German, American, or Swedish would be cool.

That's a game I always play with myself. If I had to have a car (and it would be just one), what would I get? Almost got a job in 2004 that would have been a reverse commute to White Plains. Expensive to garage a car here, so I wanted small. I think the list got down to a Works Mini, an Imprezza (did they have WRX back then?) and whatever the small Volvo was. Who knows what I would have done, but the job didn't materialize.

I'm fortunate enough to own the car at the top of my bucket list: 1965 Impala Coupe. (It's a 2-door, but not an SS.)

Kinja'd!!!

The rest of my list is odd. I love '60s Detroit iron, but I'm not too interested in what most think of as traditional muscle or pony cars. I like Chevelles and GTOs and Mustangs as much as the next gearhead, but if I was to have a small collection, it'd be big, stupid coupes like the Impala:

1965-67 Pontiac Catalina or 2+2 Coupe

1965-66 Buick Wildcat Coupe

1965-66 Oldsmobile 88 Coupe

1966 Chevrolet Caprice Coupe

1967-1970 Cadillac Eldorado

1966-1972 Oldsmobile Toronado

1963-1973 Buick Riviera

1969-1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III

1961-1971 Ford Thunderbird (four-doors need not apply)

1969-1970 Mercury Marauder

1969-1973 Chrysler Corporation "Fuselage-styled" coupe models-New Yorker, Newport, Fury, Monaco, Polara, et al

Throw in one or two wagons based on any of the above, and you'd have what would be in the barn I would build after I win Powerball.

I have owned a '70 Malibu, a '70 Monte Carlo, a couple of '72 Cutlasses, a '73 Nova, and lots of less interesting newer stuff. I kinda miss them all in one way or another, but I wouldn't really want them back. (Except maybe the Monte Carlo...)

Well to be fair, most were shitboxes.

It's amazing the number of cars you can find for under 1000$, drive them a few months until they explode and then scrap them for parts while getting another one.

my bucket list is around 80 cars, but I'd say my must haves are: Delorean, Dodge Spirit R/T, BMW 8-series, Renault Clio V6, Vw and nissan R32, mid-60's Lincoln Continental, GMC Syclone, and a Ferrari of some sort
